How do I start doing tango if I haven’t taken a single dance course in all my life?
Just do it! Tango is a walking dance – its steps are similar to regular steps we take in walking. Tango sequences are natural and logical. In tango, there is no mechanical way of stepping or impossible movements that require a substantial dance background. Even the most intricate patterns woven by experienced dancers are entirely reasonable. Accepting a possibility, we give rise to a new discovery.
What shoes do I need for a tango class?
Shoes that hold tight to the feet and whose sole is neither thick, nor protruding outwards. Footwear with pointed toes can also bother. For women, heeled shoes are advisable. In tango, there are a lot of movements that require rotation on the front part of the foot; the sole is therefore supposed to be fairly smooth. To take care of the dance floor surface, check if your footwear does not leave black stripes behind. If ladies’ shoe heels have metal taps, we suggest buying special heel covers, or guards, that do not restrict freedom of movement, but protect the floor surface.
What should I wear for a tango class?
An outfit for comfort. Some ladies wear skirts, others prefer to dance in trousers. The main thing is that your clothes are not too tight – you should enjoy maximum freedom of movement – and not too loose, either – your partner and you should not get lost in it.
Do we have to come in couples?
